2016. <http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/121298-overview>

Familial Hypercholesterolemia is another type of disorder that’s really rare in patients. It has to do with cholesterol level. Most of the people do not survive beyond 30 years unless they are treated uniquely. Having a liver transplantation is one of the unique treatments. It is important to treat disorders like this as soon as possible and check it often so it does not get worse.

This is another types of disorder the private practice where I shadow a nurse focuses on. It is important to me to know what their private practice focuses on to understand what the patients are going through. Seeing the patients with Adina makes me also used to patients looking at me and kind of looking up to me because I am her student.

2. Guyton, Naté. "Nine Principles of Successful Nursing Leadership." American Nurse

Today. N.p., Aug. 2012. Web. 02 Feb. 2016. <http://www.americannursetoday.com/nine-principles-of-successful-nursing-leadership/>

The American Nurse website gives nine principles of successful nursing leadership. These are really important principles so that nurses are successful in their profession. Many nurses should follow these rules because that is how patients feel comfortable with the nurse doing the right job. Patients also want to look up to nurses to get all of the information about certain disorder.

This source is reliable because it gives good information about nurses who do many things so patients are satisfied with their appointments. These nine principles will help me to figure out qualities nurses should have and how I can be more specific about them. This website would help me more if it did talk in details about each principles and not just in general.

3."Is the Nursing Profession Right for You?" EveryNurseorg. N.p., 24 Mar. 2014. Web. 02

Feb. 2016. <http://everynurse.org/right-person-for-nursing/>

Every Nurse website gives good points on what an ideal nurse should be. I believe it gives pretty good points on how to do the right things and characteristics people should have to be a good nurse. There are quotes by nurses on what qualities nurses should be have in order to enter the profession.

This is a reliable source because it shows nurses’ opinions and how their experience can influence others going in this profession. These opinions apply to my Capstone project because I’m working on guide “What It Takes to Become a Good Nurse”. I will need a lot of information about being a good nurse and what qualities the nurse should have in order for patients to feel confident to who they are going to with health problems.

4. LeClair, Megan. "Advancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Medical Students

Partnering with Nurses”." “Advancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Medical Students Partnering with Nurses” (n.d.): n. pag. Truth About Nursing. July 2012. Web. 02 Feb. 2016. <https://www.truthaboutnursing.org/research/orig/leclair/results.pdf>

The Advancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration website gives a lot of quotes by medical interns that work with nurses. This shows what experience they had with the nurse, patients as well as hospital or private practice. It is not easy to just shadow or be an intern without going through different types of situations. This source definitely talks about what the interns thought of this.

This is a really similar situation to what I am doing for my Capstone project. I am shadowing a nurse and seeing patients with Adina lets me see similar experience. The patients also look up to me when Adina introduces me as her student because they want to feel comfortable around people at a places with these type of professions. I am really glad to find a website like this because I can compare my experience with others’ experiences.

5. Ng, Becky. "Remember the Patient: My Shadowing Experience." Institute for Healthcare

Improvement. N.p., 19 Mar. 2013. Web. 02 Feb. 2016. <http://www.ihi.org/education/ihiopenschool/blogs/_layouts/ihi/community/blog/itemview.aspx?List=9f16d15b-5aab-4613-a17a-076c64a9e912&ID=105>

Another important aspect of being a nurse is remembering your patients. Not many nurses do that, which does not reflect on them well. A huge part of being a good nurse is making sure you remember the patients you have seen before and their health history. It is good to have this memorized. This website talks about how this type of quality is valued by the patients.

It is a credible source. The author is a administrative fellow, which focuses on patients’ values. When I read this website I thought about Adina and how she always makes sure she knows her patients. Not once, I saw the patients from six months ago when I shadowed as well and I remembered them. They recognized me and you could tell they were happy that I knew who they were.

6. Rhodes, Marilyn K., Arlene H. Morris, and Ramona Browder Lazenby. "Nursing at Its

This source focuses on nurse talking about their experience at their programs. The nurses share what they have learned, but also what they experienced. Programs like this give a great opportunity to figure out what it really means to be a nurse. It takes many qualities to be a good nurse and not everyone has it.

This source is reliable because many nurses talk about their experiences. They also talk about what they did and thought were important aspects. Besides shadowing and creating a guide, I will also need information about good qualities because becoming a good doctor also means having great qualities.

7. "The Road to Becoming a Doctor." Contributions to Global Historical Archaeology The

Historical Archaeolgy of Buenos Aires (n.d.): Association of American Medical Colleges. Web. 02 Feb. 2016. <https://www.aamc.org/download/68806/data/road-doctor.pdf>

There is information on what are usually the requirements for college majors and MCAT test before medical school. This is a a credible sources made by Association of American Medical Colleges, which gives specifics about anything with medical schools.

Especially since I want to go to medical school after college, this website is really good for me to read about details. My Capstone project has to do with career-based shadowing to help me figure out what I want to do in the future. I definitely want to be a doctor, but not sure yet what kind. I was thinking about oncologist, but I would need more experience with this field to be sure.

8. "What Is FH?" The FH Foundation. N.p., n.d. Web. 02 Feb. 2016.

<https://thefhfoundation.org/about-fh/what-is-fh/>

This source focuses on what Familial Hypercholesterolemia is. The importance of how the liver works and hot cholesterol level affects our lives in terms of genetic disorders are the main points made. It also includes two types of FH and what are the risks when one or both of the parents have FH. There is also a rare form of FH, which is really dangerous and progressed as early as before birth.

It is a reliable source because it’s the FH Foundation website, which gives a lot of facts about Familial Hypercholesterolemia. This source is really good for people who are interested in knowing their genetic mutations and get more information to take care of their health, as well as for people who want to know about their genetic disorder more. This website fits into my research because this is the main topic the nurse I shadow focuses on. This gives me a better background of what people need to do in order to take care of themselves, but to also understand the background behind it.

9. "What It Takes to Be a Great Nurse." American Nursing Excellence Together. N.p., n.d.

Web. 02 Feb. 2016. <http://anetnational.org/american-nursing-excellence-together-what-it-takes-to-be-a-great-nurse/>

This website talks about the main questions, which is “What It Takes to be a Great Nurse”. The author focuses on how it is important for nurses to understand the patients and listen to them. A great nurse should do anything that will keep the comfort of the patient. It is not easy to do that, but the good nurse will definitely do it.

The source is really important to me because Seeing the nurse practitioner I shadow I can see a lot of qualities that this website talks about. I am really happy and thankful for shadowing her because I learn something new each week. She always takes care of the patients and listens to them because this is how you get a lot of information on what they think. It’s better to listen to them and hear more on how they feel, than just talking and ending an appointment.

10. “What's the Most Important Quality to Look for in an Oncology Nursing Candidate? |

Ons Connect." Connect. N.p., 01 Apr. 2010. Web. 04 Feb. 2016.<http://connect.ons.org/issue/april-2010/career-guide/what%E2%80%99s-the-most-important-quality-to-look-for-in-an-oncology-nursing>

This website talks about qualities for an oncology nursing. It shows how oncology is not an easy field of medicine, but it is important to see past the disease. Many nurses do not realize this and lose it. It takes a good quality of a nurse to be able and work well with the patients.

The reason why I looked up this source is because I am interested in medicine and mostly likely becoming an oncologist. The important aspect of this is making sure I know the right qualities of nurses, but also the doctor’s. Making sure to find a good school and medical school is also what matters to me a lot because this will affect everything.
